The "other" in Danganronpa Another Episode: Title Ultra Despair Girls' implies it is a foreign adventure, and it is somewhat true. Perhaps the writing less impact than the rest of the series, but another episode largely makes up for it with amazing shift in gameplay style and tone.
Taking place in-between events Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Another episode follows Komaru Naegi, brother of series protagonist Makoto, after he was abducted and remains locked in a room for a year (basically lost the greatest start, most Terrible, the most tragic events in human history). Forced into a game of survival by five children called themselves the Warriors of Hope, Komaru and his new friend Store Fukawa (and this store serial killer alter ego), have fled the city and use the megaphone hacking weapon for defeating the killer robot bears.
As the narrative here is informed by the other two games in the series, and if you have somehow avoid the other two (and PS4 they re-release), I would have no trouble recommending another episode. It's not really necessary to have prior knowledge of the series in the jump, but the real valuable bits in the plot has to do with how it fits into the overall series. So to really enjoy some revealing and Easter eggs in all, knowledge of the series is needed rather than, say, just the basic interest in the quirkiness of the characters like the rest of the entries. And unlike the plot that involved enough in itself without drawing a murder mystery from the previous title. Here is an interesting character, and Komaru probably my favorite character in the whole series Danganronpa, but the depth just is not here.
As an apology to fans of the series due to a lack of depth, another episode of the series decided to evolve in other ways. Being a third-person shooter, Komaru often finds himself in tight corridors, hallways and open areas Monokuma occasionally as a killer robot chase down. Unfortunately, shooting it tends to get repetitive. hack megaphone Komaru will finally be different types of "Truth Bullets" (for example, people who make enemies dancing in place, flamethrowers, people who move objects in the segment of the puzzle, etc.), and there are different types some criminals by design morbid, but most of the other gameplay this episode feels bloated. I feel like pruning or two chapters here will already not reinforced how novel the idea of this new gameplay style than making it feel like a hindrance when the plot began to make significant progress. Clearing room immediately feels like a duty rather than stock-infused gameplay with grooves revelation as a gift.
Controls for the re-released version of another episode definitely a cut above the PS Vita version. Along with the built-in ability to select audio in English or Japanese, can use on the PlayStation DualShock 4 is a dream. Dealing with the camera is still a struggle, and aims can feel like moving through the pudding when dealing with multiple enemies, but it felt as though I was being held captive by the limits of the framework rather than falling victim to avoidable errors. Playing as Shops, thanks to unbeaten melee mode is limited, feels much better and easier to connect with a melee attack. I'm still struggling with the camera many times, but at least I'm more likely to activate abilities than before.
For fans of the series Danganronpa who have never experienced another episode, I can not recommend it enough. Shooting gameplay may be stiff, but the world draped it more moody than a lot of the last series. Yet despite this visual is dark, there is a tone lighter than before. Komaru and Toku fun, and has a witty banter between the two even when it tries to survive the game of death.
But if you've already played through another episode in the PlayStation Vita, or never experienced before Danganronpa game, there is not much to go. The shift to the third-person shooter is a new idea, but it soon became unbearable.
